Personality

Insane. Mortiss has slowly over the years become so bitter, so twisted, so jealous of everything that his mind has decayed. Only one thought is ever on his mind and that is to fight, anybody and everybody. Mortiss fears nothing, he has survived so many fights so many fatal blows that he believes himself to be invincible. In a one on one fight he is among the most dangerous men alive but the bigger picture of strategy and tactics he is clueless, or rather he doesn’t care. He is wholly without morals and mercy and takes a sickening delight others misery. His anger erupts at the slightest annoyance and he becomes a berserk, in this state he feels no pain and only death will stop him.

History

The early life of Mortiss is somewhat of a mystery, he came to prominence during the Yellow Turban Rebellion. Whether or not he shared any ideals with his comrades is unknown but any idealistic thoughts of a better world he may have had quickly vanished as he used the rebellion as an excuse to burn, rape and pillage. He gained infamy as one of the Turbans top fighters, nobody could keep count of how many Government Troops and innocents he butchered and tortured. His power in battle gained him a legion of followers and when the rebellion was finally crushed Mortiss led these vagabonds away south and became a Bandit lord and terrorised Jing Province.

Eventually his army was routed however and Mortiss was forced to flee west with his survivors whereupon he arrived at Yong An. The Governor of Yong An was terrified but his advisers saw this an opportunity, Mortiss was beaten and had no where to go, his prowess in battle was far greater than anyone Yong An could offer and so they persuaded their lord to welcome Mortiss to join their ranks. In this time of chaos Yong An was weak, they needed some kind of edge to stay alive and they believed this edge to be him.

Little did they imagine that once Mortiss had regained his strength he would continue his old tricks, nobody was capable of controlling this freak and the Governor had to deal with huge numbers of complaints against him burning, killing and raping the people. The Governor had to keep Mortiss away from the city and so he was given the task of hunting down the surrounding Bandits. This kept Mortiss away in the field for a couple of years but now all the Bandits have been defeated and Mortiss returns to Yong An seeking reward. The Governor dare not allow Mortiss the freedom of Yong An but he ranks had grown as many of the defeated Bandits joined his cause, he is fearful to let Mortiss in but is fearful to keep him out, what’s a Governor to do?

Part 1

The Meteor,Dark Knights and KOTR

Mortiss was born in a far off plain known as Condoria. He was one of a family of 4. His parents both died when he was a baby and he was raised by his older brother and the High Priest of all Condoria known as "Underdark Undrentide". Underdark as High Priest was charged with the protection of it and he used efficient brutal methods to keep the condorians under his tyrannical control. He treated his brother and sisters no different and Mortiss began to hate Underdark and the whole Condorian race. When a Meteor struck Mortiss welcomed it and he escaped the ruins of Condoria still alive. He then began to think that he was destined for greatness so he cut off his wings and prepared to make his mark on the world. However he was not the only Condorion to survive. Underdark and his two sisters Arcia and Kagenuma also lived though Mortiss was unaware of it.

Mortiss became an officer of the Dark Knight Clan serving under Alomovo. Alomovo recognised his potential and Mortiss respected the man who he would later call his master. After the end of the Clan wars in which Mortiss played a small role he decided to travel with Alomovo learning from his fighting skill and experience along the way. For some reason Alomovo did not mind Mortiss tagging along and soon Mortiss was adopted as Alomovos student. Mortiss spent every day training with Alomovo improving his power,speed and technique. He was put under intense life threatening training regimes but he somehow survived them all.

Alomovo would later forge his own kingdom which he would call Wei to mark the beginning of the Four Kingdoms. Mortiss was given the rank of Prime Minister but it was just a title and had no real power, all affairs were controlled directly by Alomovo who acted as Emperor. It was during this time of peace that Mortiss underwent the Ceremony of Darkness under the direction of Alomovo. After the ceremony Mortiss aquired the demon spirit of Torment which gave him a huge boost of dark power.

Alomovo then began to change, he was no longer the cool calm collected man he was and although the change was gradual Mortiss noticed it in the training sessions they had. He was turning evil. It was not long before it became common knowledge that a legendary Demon from the past by the name of KOTR had taken over his body. Mortiss was then put in a difficult position, he still held the utmost respect for Alomovo but he had also witnessed the atrocities that KOTR had done. However he was forced to join the resistance group to fight KOTR as he could not bare it if he did not fight and others did. Mortiss joined such great warriors as Xian,Rhino,Shadow,Krimson and many others in the fight against KOTR. Mortiss first confrontation almost ended in his death, it was the first time he had suffered defeat and it burned him up inside. He spent all his time training his body and improving his skill and strength until at last he believed he was ready to take on KOTR once more. He got his chance in the Snow Fields, KOTR had ambushed several of the resistance force and when Mortiss heard he rushed to their aid eager to extract some revenge on the only being who had ever beaten him. However despite a gallant effort Mortiss was once again defeated, he gave it everything he had but he ran out of energy and KOTR did not even look phased. However before the final blow was struck Alomovo regained control of his body. However this would be the beginning of a new era for Mortiss, one where he would change mentally and physically and new enemies and rivalries would emerge.
